Although I find it most useful to use somewhat of an eclectic approach, giving the space and freedom to mold therapy around the client, I am most inclined to use the Self Psychology approach. Self Psychology addresses itself to relationships and their internalization, distortions, and repetition.
Self-psychology centers around empathy, growth, and the healthy development of the individual. It is concerned with interpersonal relations and representations. One important benefit of self-psychology is that individuals can learn to trust themselves more and become more autonomous.
Self-psychology can help people to become more aware of their own feelings and needs, as well as the feelings and needs of others, making it a valuable to those struggling with issues related to their sense of self or identity or developing better relationships with others.
